Arbitration in Finland

Arbitration has a longstanding legacy in Finland as a means for resolving commercial disputes.

Arbitration is frequently chosen as a means of settling business disputes and Finland is generally considered an arbitration friendly jurisdiction.

The Finnish Arbitration Act

The Finnish Arbitration Act currently in force was enacted in 1992.

International conventions

Finland has ratified and enacted the 1958 New York Convention and ratified the Convention on the Settlement of Investment Disputes between States and Nationals of Other States (the ICSID Convention).
